Minister of Interior meets with governors

Muscat: Sayyid Hamoud bin Faisal Al Busaidi, Minister of Interior, convened a meeting today with Their Highnesses and Excellencies the Governors. The meeting took place at the headquarters of the Ministry.

Sayyid Hamoud opened the meeting by welcoming the governors and lauding their efforts in following up and advancing the course of local development. He stressed the importance of continuing these efforts.

The meeting addressed several items on its agenda, most notably His Majesty the Sultan’s Award for Governorates Development, which is scheduled to be launched in the near future.

In view of the Royal attention accorded by His Majesty to social stability through the establishment of marriage support funds in the governorates, the Minister of Interior emphasized the need to assess the previous period, review the progress of these funds and track their performance indicators. This, he noted, will help achieve the noble objectives sought from them in the next phase.

The meeting’s agenda also included a review of the annual plans of the municipal councils in the governorates and ways to improve them, in a manner that enhances the efficiency of municipal work and contribute to the realization of development targets.
