COVID-19: Dubai to vaccinate children between 12-15 years

Muscat: Dubai Health opens the door for registration to vaccinate children between the ages 12-15 years against COVID-19.

According to the Emirates News Agency, WAM: “The Dubai Health Authority announced the opening of the door for registration of, as of Sunday and vaccination appointments for adolescents of the age group between 12 and 15 years against COVID-19 through the application of the authority DHA."

Adding that: "This important step comes in line with the national vaccination plan in the United Arab Emirates, and in light of the Ministry of Health and Community Protection authorizing the emergency use of the 'Pfizer Bionic' vaccine among children over the age of 12 years, and based on the approval of the US Food and Drug Administration and its approval for emergency use. The vaccine is included in the age group of 12 years and older."

The Health Authority in UAE has set the priorities for this age group, which includes those who suffer from chronic diseases, and those who live with the elderly or live with individuals whose health conditions prevent vaccination.

"With regard to active cases of COVID-19, the vaccine can be taken after completing the home quarantine period of 10 days without symptoms or in the event that there are minor symptoms. If the symptoms are moderate or severe and require the presence of the child in the hospital, in this case the doctor can be consulted. The therapist assesses his condition, and determines the extent to which vaccination is possible at the present time," WAM explained.
