Muscat: Oman football team will compete in Group B, along with the teams of Japan, Australia, Saudi Arabia, China and Vietnam in the final stage of the Asian qualifiers for the 2022 World Cup which will be held in Qatar.
A statement issued online by the Oman News Agency (ONA), said: "The draw for the final stage of the Asian qualifiers for the 2022 World Cup in Qatar will result in the first national football team competing in Group B along with the teams of Japan, Australia, Saudi Arabia, China and Vietnam."
"The first group includes the teams of Iran, South Korea, the United Arab Emirates, Iraq, Syria and Lebanon. The first and second places from each group qualify directly for the World Cup, while the third-placed teams will play a play-off, after which the winner will play a decisive play-off with a team from another continent," the statement added.
