CMA slams rumours about insurance companies refusing to compensate accident claims

Muscat: Capital Market Authority dismissed a rumour that insurance companies refused to compensate traffic accident claims during the Eid Al-Adha lockdown.

A statement issued online by Capital Market Authority (CMA) said: "The authority clarified that what is being circulated on social media about insurance companies refusing to compensate traffic accident claims during the complete closure on the days of Eid Al-Adha is not true."

The authority stated the provisions that regulate the relationship between the policyholder and the insurance company and identified exceptional cases in which the company has the right to refrain from paying compensation resulting from traffic accidents.

It also clarified that the policyholder has the right to file an online complaint in the event of a refusal by any company through the website or application.

"The authority called on the public to verify the accuracy of the news from official sources before spreading rumours," added the statement.
