Electricians urged to help provide inspection in Oman
NCEM urges licensed electricians to help provide teams for inspection of electricity complexes and homes.

Muscat: The National Centre for Emergency Management has called on all licensed electricians to help provide teams for inspection of the main electricity complexes and homes of affected people to ensure safe return of electricity.

Accommodation to be provided to affected families

Muscat: People whose homes are not receiving electricity due to cyclone Shaheen may contact the relief and shelter committee to provide alternative homes or apartments.

The National Committee of Emergency Management said:"The basic services sector (electricity) assured owners of houses that cannot receive power supply, that the relief and shelter sector will work hard to provide alternative homes and apartments for accommodation until the damages are repaired in the affected homes and to ensure their safety. In the same context, the relief and shelter sector also called on citizens who have homes or apartments in the wilayats of Suwaiq and Khaboura and the adjacent areas and wish to donate to shelter to the affected people, to contact the temporary Call Centre on the following numbers: 2606110611 260611026105 | 26061118Nama Group launches campaign to restore electricity in homes

Earlier today:

 Nama Group has launched #Wiyakum campaign to support those affected by #Shaheen cyclone. 

The campaign focuses on restoring electricity in affected houses and repair of connections and main switchboards. The Group will financially and technically support Omani licensed technicians graduated from Naqla programme or licensed volunteers to ensure return of safe electricity to homes. 

The technical team will also be joined by volunteers from Nama Group technicians, as the group believes in the employees' contribution to voluntary works. Volunteers will also participate in cooperation with the Directorate General of Youth and Voluntary Initiatives at the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Youth to support affected customers and rehabilitate their homes, roads, and other facilities.

Affected customers may contact the leaders at #Wiyakum teams in the event of any electrical issues in their houses.

The center said in a statement: “In the interest of the safety of the residents of the homes, the security and safety requirements require examining the electricity paths from main complexes to the internal distribution networks. The National Center for Emergency Situations Management invites all who have licensed electricians to communicate with the temporary call centre in Suwaiq on: 26061103/ 26061102 26061105/ 26061120 | 26061118. Camps will be provided to house these technicians and distribute them to the affected areas to help restore electricity to the affected homes"

In addition, the electricity sector urges homeowners affected by the tropical situation to disconnect all electrical appliances from the sockets until safety checks of the electrical circuits are completed.
