Muscat: The Council of Ministers has approved the National Programme for the Digital Economy.
"The Council of Ministers approves the National Programme for the Digital Economy, through which the Sultanate of Oman seeks to achieve several goals that will contribute to building and developing a prosperous digital economy that responds to the requirements of the future," Oman News Agency (ONA) said in a statement.
His Excellency Eng Said bin Hamoud Al Maawali, Minister of Transport, Communications and Information Technology, confirmed that the adoption of the programme will enhance digital transformation in the economic and government sectors, as well as enrich the citizens' experiences through proactive and integrated digital services.
The Minister said in a statement to Oman News Agency that the programme is a strategic direction to ensure harmony, coordination and integration between the components of the digital economy in the Sultanate.
"The programme identified a set of main pillars of the digital economy and medium and long-term goals based on the national directions of the Oman 2040 vision, seeking to achieve them through a set of executive programmes," His Excellency added.
