Occidental Oman honoured with Green Branch Award

Occidental Oman (Oxy Oman) was recently honored with the Green Branch Award, in recognition for the company’s work in service of environmental preservation and long-term investments in Oman’s environment.

The award was given as part of the Oman Environment Forum, which coincided with Oman Environment Day. The event was held at the Grand Millennium Muscat under the patronage of H.E. Dr. Saud bin Hamoud Al Habsi, Minister of Agriculture and Fisheries. Alya Saleh Al Maimani, Vice President of Block 9/27 Operations at Oxy Oman, accepted the award on behalf of the company.

Oxy Oman has contributed to a variety of environment-focused projects, including the construction of two public parks, including the first public park in Hamra Al Doroa, Al Dhahirah Governorate, and a first-of-its-kind linear park in Al Maabilah, Muscat governorate. The company has also sponsored the printing of the “Nature Reserves” Book in collaboration with the Environmental Authority, in order to raise awareness of Oman’s natural sights. Oxy Oman is also sponsoring the installation of mooring buoys at the Dimaniyat Islands Nature Reserves, in order to support marine life and coral reefs at the island.

“We are proud to receive the Green Award as part of the Award’s inaugural launch, in recognition of our collaborations to support environmental awareness and conservation,” said Mr. Stephen Kelly, President and General Manager at Oxy Oman.

“Oxy Oman is committed to the preservation and sustainability of habitats and biodiversity through efficient use of energy, land, water and other natural resources where the company operates,” he added.

This program falls under Oxy Oman’s umbrella of strategic partnerships and continuous collaboration with key stakeholders, and is part of Oxy Oman’s endeavour and long-term commitment to support programs that enhance economic growth and sustainable development and that yield a positive impact in the neighbouring communities.
