Muscat: Students of Indian School Muscat, Adhrit Gautham (grade 6) and Adhi Krishna (grade 3), bagged the Best Child Actor Award in the recently concluded Malayalam drama competition, held at Al Falaj Hotel.
They participated on behalf of a drama group registered for the competition organised by a prominent talent school in Muscat.
The event, which spanned over a period of two days, saw 10 theatre groups from Muscat and Sohar with more than 120 artists and technicians indulge in a healthy competition for different titles.
The event also had a drama compiled by the organisers staged in a non-competing category. The event also marked to be a first on-stage drama competition after the covid protocols were lifted recently. Adhrit Gautham and Adhi Krishna were adjudged for the Best Child Actor Award for their exemplary performance in the play titled “Pratheeksha” written and directed by Ajay Raj Menon.
The judgment resonates with the wide acceptance of their acting and the drama by the audience. The drama itself went on to win the special jury award for the best team performance and Special jury award for the best actor by Dr. Rajgopal.
The play had Devananda, grade 9 student of Indian School Muscat as its lead character, who won the audience appreciation for her outstanding acting performance. Even though she couldn’t win an award, there were several mentions about her talent and a promising future in performing arts.
The results were announced by the Jury members at a special function held at the organisers premises. The jury panel consisted of prominent figures from the Malayalam theatre and film industry and were specially invited to Oman, to judge this event.
Adhrit Gautham is the son of Ajay Raj and Geethu Ajay, while Adhi Krishna is the daughter of Arathi and Krishnendu and Devananda is the daughter of Vinod Pillai and Sini.
