Muscat: Oman Tourism Forum kicked off at Oman Convention and Exhibition Centre (OCEC) here on Tuesday, coinciding with marking the World Tourism Day.
The event is organised by the Ministry of Heritage and Tourism, OCEC and Oman Tourism Development Company (OMRAN Group).
The opening ceremony was held under the patronage of His Highness Sayyid Kamel bin Fahd Al Said, Assistant Secretary General at the Office of the Deputy Prime Minister for the Council of Ministers.
Said Hareb Al Obaidani, Director General of Tourism Development at the Ministry of Heritage and Tourism, said that Oman Tourism Forum addressed means of developing adventure tourism by utilsing unique natural resources in Oman to place it among the best world destinations for this type of tourism.
On his turn, Eng. Said Salim Al Shanfari, CEO of OCEC said that the forum highlights the prominent initiatives undertaken to boost Oman’s efforts in the field of adventure tourism.
The first day of the forum included a discussion on the reality of adventure tourism in Oman, while Wednesday’s topics will touch on licencing procedures, security and safety requirements and the role of modern technologies in developing adventure tourism.
Oman Tourism Forum aims to attract local tour organisers, travel agencies, airlines and suppliers under one roof to display the services and offers they provide in the field of tourism in general and adventure tourism in particular.
