Over 33,000 blood units collected in ten months of 2022

Muscat: More than 33,000 units of blood samples were collected during the first ten months of 2022, an increase of 18 percent compared to the last year, said the Department of Blood Banks Services (DBBS), said.

The statistics of the Al-Shifa programme at the Central Blood Bank indicate that 33,226 blood units were collected by the end of October, compared to 32,754 units collected in 2021.

This increase has enabled the Central Blood Bank to provide blood and its components for many cases at the health institutions affiliated with the Ministry of Health, in addition to Sultan Qaboos University Hospital, Police Hospital, Sultan Qaboos Comprehensive Cancer Care and Research Center , and private hospitals.

The Department of Blood Banks Services would like to thank all the voluntary efforts that contributed to raising awareness about the importance of donating blood and its components. It also thanked all donors of blood and its components for their donations and requested them to continue with their efforts.
