Muscat: With the participation of 100 horses, the Zad Al-Rakib Equestrian Committee in the Wilayat of Ibra in the North Sharqiyah Governorate organised a festival for traditional horse sports for the 2022/2023 season.
Sayyid Munther Al Busaidi, Head of the Federation, the sponsor of the occasion, said in a statement to the Oman News Agency: "The traditional horse sports festivals held by the Oman Equestrian Federation are among the basics of the programme calendar that the Federation supervises and implements in the various governorates of the Sultanate of Oman, by selecting 4 to 6 wilayats to organise the festival every two years."
The President of the Oman Equestrian Federation stressed that the traditional horse sports festivals aim to encourage the practices of horse sports of all kinds and encourage local tourism, in addition to introducing tourists to the authentic Omani heritage, where competition and participation take place according to the standards in force in the Oman Equestrian Federation and with the participation of equestrian clubs and committees in the Sultanate of Oman.
The events included the Ardha run with the participation of more than 100 horses, in addition to the horse arts show, most notably Hempel and the horse rider, and the skills of picking stakes using the sword and spear, in addition to showcasing the skills of the knights on their horses, and the horse sleep skills, and the shows included the participation of the knights carrying the flags of the Sultanate Oman and pictures of His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tar, and the presentation of Omani singing arts and poetic poems expressing the occasion.
