Two killed in US plane crash, one missing

Florida: Two people were killed when a private plane crashed in the Gulf of Mexico off the coast of the US state of Florida. The authorities are searching for a third missing person who is believed to have been on board.

Authorities in Venice, Florida, began the search after an investigation by the Department of Transportation's Federal Aviation Administration found that a single-engine Piper PA-28 Cherokee private jet did not return to the airport. The plane had taken off from St. Petersburg, Florida.
