Muscat: Mohsen bin Hamad Al Masrouri, Vice President of the Oman Football Association (OFA) and head of the mission of the Sultanate of Oman’s national football team in the 25th Gulf Cup said that the national team has been taking steady steps towards winning the tournament from the very beginning.
Al Masrouri said in a statement: “The Croatian coach of our national team, Branko Ivankovic, has dealt with each match according to its data and circumstances. Pointing out that the team presented a tactical match with distinction against the Bahraini team, and succeeded in winning the match after the players presented a high tactical level throughout 90 minutes.
He added that the final match with Iraq, the hosts? will certainly not be easy, and its data will be different from the opening match that brought together the two teams, and we have great confidence in the players in providing the good technical level that qualifies them to win the third title.
Hossam Hassan, the official spokesman for the Iraqi Ministry of Youth and Sports, said: “An upcoming meeting between the Omani and Iraqi national teams will be the final touch for this beautiful painting, and for this exceptional event, the Arab Gulf Cup in its twenty-fifth edition. He explained that the performance of the two teams has been on the rise since their first meeting at the opening of the tournament, and the final match will be characterized by clubs, excitement, and the expected large audience.
Hussam Hassan added, in a statement to Oman News Agency: The great and main gain in this tournament is the presence of the the Gulf countries in the Iraqi province of Basra, and a large number of fans from different countries, and there will be a closing ceremony for the tournament similar to the opening ceremony before the start of the final match.
The final match between our national team and its Iraqi counterpart will be held on Thursday, January 19, 2023 at 8pm MCT at the Basra International Stadium.
