Muscat: The Sultanate of Oman has expressed its solidarity and offers its condolences following the devastating earthquake that occurred on Monday morning, February 6, 2023, affecting several regions, including Syria, Turkey and Cyprus.
A statement issued online by the Foreign Ministry said: ”The ministry expressed the Sultanate of Oman's sincere condolences, sympathy and solidarity with both the friendly Republic of Turkey and the Syrian Arab Republic, as well as the families of the victims and the Turkish and Syrian people in the devastating earthquake that occurred in southern Turkey, and wished a speedy recovery for the injured.
The devastating earthquake with a 7.9-magnitude shook southern Turkey early Monday morning and was felt in Cyprus, Lebanon, Syria, Jordan, Iraq and Egypt, causing buildings to collapse and forcing residents to take to the snow-covered streets.
