Team from Oman carrying out relief, rescue in Türkiye

Muscat: The National Search and Rescue Team continued its search for survivors in the earthquake-hit Türkiye on Saturday.

Since its arrival in Türkiye, the National Search and Rescue Team of the Civil Defence and Ambulance Authority (CDAA), is continuing with the search and rescue operations, providing medical care to the injured in southern Türkiye which has been hit by a devastating earthquake.

Colonel Mubarak bin Salem Al-Araimi, Director General of Operations and Training at the authority, general supervisor of the team, said that they have set up a camp in the Turkish city of Hatay, in coordination with the Emergency and Disaster Management Authority of the Republic of Türkiye.

He pointed out that the team has carried out many searches for survivors in different locations through the use of advanced devices and equipment to detect lives under the rubble, in addition to providing medical care to those affected by medical personnel in coordination with the local authority, LEMA , and the International Field Operations Centre, working alongside with other teams.

The Colonel General Supervisor of the National Search and Rescue Team added that despite the challenges faced by the international teams, such as the heavy congestion of vehicles, and freezing cold, the team continues to provide assistance and humanitarian services to the affected people.

Praising the role of the Embassy of the Sultanate of Oman in Türkiye in providing facilities that helped the team in carrying out relief operation, he said after their arrival at Adana Airport, they registered at the site of the International Search and Rescue Advisory Board of the United Nations Office (INSARAG).

Oman has sent more relief flights to Türkiye in association with the Oman Charitable Organisation and Royal Air Force of Oman. The relief materials including essential commodities are vital to save the lives of  quake affected people.
