Oman offers Ukraine to open a grain center on its territory

Muscat: The Sultanate of Oman has offered Ukraine to open a grain center on its territory, the Ukrainian Special Representative for the Middle East and Africa, said.

In an interview with the Ukrinform website and published by News Unrolled, Maxim Sobh said:”During my visit to Oman, the Sultanate of Oman has offered Ukraine to seriously consider establishing a Ukrainian food grain center on its territory.”

He confirmed that this would give Ukraine access to one of the most modern logistics hubs already operating in the Indian Ocean.

He explained that Egypt is also interested in discussing the possibility of establishing such a logistic center on its territory.

In the period between 2013 and 2014, Ukraine witnessed a remarkable increase in the percentage of wheat production within its lands, which made it one of the largest wheat exporting countries around the world.

Thus Ukraine became the fourth largest wheat exporter in the world. It normally produces 42 percent of the world's sunflower seed oil production, 16 percent of the world's corn production and 9 percent of the wheat production.

Ukraine is one of the world's largest exporters of wheat but the Russia-Ukraine war has affected the country's agricultural and food supplies, prompting fears of shortages or high prices around the world.
