MSX index ends lower

Muscat: The MSX index closed at 4,844.30 points, down by 0.55 per cent from the previous close.

The Sharia Index ended down by 0.45 per cent at 479.38 points. Global Financial Investments, up 9.80 per cent, was the top gainer while Construction Materials, down 9.33 per cent, was the top loser. Shares of Ominvest were the most active in terms of the number of shares traded as well as in terms of turnover.

A total number of 624 trades were executed during the day's trading session, generating a turnover of OMR2.86 million, with more than 8.95 million shares changing hands. Out of 42 traded securities, 9 advanced, 15 declined, and 18 remained unchanged. At the session close, GCC & Arab investors were net buyers for OMR366,000 while domestic investors were net sellers for OMR303,000, followed by foreign investors for OMR64,000 worth of shares.

Financial Index closed at 7,737.06 points, down 0.32 per cent. Prices of Global Financial Investments, DIDIC and Oman United Insurance were up by 9.80 per cent, 1.27 per cent and  0.62 per cent respectively. Prices of Al Batinah Development Company, Bank Nizwa, Sohar International Bank and  Bank Muscat were up by 4.76 per cent, 2.00 per cent, 1.91 per cent and 0.73 per cent respectively.

Industrial Index closed at 6,083.83 points, down 0.43 per cent. Prices of Oman Fisheries were up by 4.65 per cent respectively. Prices of Construction Materials, National Aluminium, A'Saffa Foods, Dhofar Beverages and Voltamp Energy were up by 9.33 per cent, 8.33 per cent, 7.37 per cent, 5.22 per cent and 4.55 per cent respectively.

Services Index was down by 0.2 per cent before closing at 1,718.62 points. Prices of Dhofar Generating, Al Suwadi Power and Muscat Desalination were up by 4.00 per cent, 3.33 per cent and 2.06 per cent respectively. Prices of Ooredoo, National Gas, Oman Telecom and Abraj Energy were up by 1.44 per cent, 0.97 per cent, 0.46 per cent and 0.34 per cent respectively.
