Madrid : A seven-minute hat-trick from Karim Benzema led Real Madrid towards a big victory over Real Valladolid, with Los Blancos ultimately winning this LaLiga Santander game 6-0.
Rodrygo was also impressive and opened the scoring, while Marco Asensio and Lucas Vazquez got in on the scoring action too in the second half.
Real Valladolid actually started the game creating the better chances, as Roque Mesa struck the post and Monchu fired just wide.
But, Real Madrid were unstoppable once they got going, with Asensio feeding Rodrygo for the opening goal in the 22nd minute.
Then, Benzema showed that he still knows where the back of the net is by firing in a hat-trick between the 29th and 36th minutes.
The first two were set up by Vinicius, with the No. 9 heading in at the far post and then collecting a pass from his teammate before dribbling and blasting past Sergio Asenjo. He then added another with an acrobatic scissor kick from a Rodrygo cross from the right.
That made it 4-0 at halftime. With the result beyond doubt, Real Madrid took their foot off the gas in the second half, but still looked in control.
Rodrygo had a goal ruled out because of a handball from Vinicius before he provided the assist, but Real Madrid eventually did find a fifth of the game as Rodrygo completed his impressive performance by teeing up Asensio for a strike past Asenjo.
Real Madrid were even able to rest some of their starters in the second half and introduce lesser-used players. That included Eden Hazard, who set up Lucas Vazquez for the sixth and final goal in stoppage time.
This big win means Real Madrid now approach the Copa del Rey Clasico on Wednesday with momentum.
