Shura Council forwards Draft Tourism Law to State Council

Muscat: The Shura Council on Monday held its 14th regular session of its 9th term’s fourth annual convening under the chairmanship of Khalid Hilal Al Ma’awali, Chairman of the Shura Council. During the session, the council forwarded the Draft Tourism Law to the State Council.

The draft law consists of five chapters containing 20 articles. It covers regulation of the tourism sector in Oman in line with Oman Vision 2040 and developments in the tourism sector on the local, regional and international spheres.

The draft law will contribute to improving the quality of hotel and tourist facilities, ensuring their performance’s efficiency, simplifying procedures regulating various tourism activities and augmenting the quality of these facilities in accordance with international standards.

The session dealt with the motion to improve educational services provided to children with autism spectrum disorder. Discussion was conducted on the need for a diagnosis of the disorder in schools, and the provision of appropriate competencies to deal with these cases, in addition to the importance of purchasing education services for this group from the private sector as a remedial measure, until the service is available in public schools.

The session was attended by Their Excellencies the members of the Council, and His Excellency Sheikh Ahmed bin Mohammed Al-Nadabi, Secretary General.
