The department added that clear to partly cloudy skies are expected over the rest of the Sultanate with chances of convective clouds developing with isolated rain and occasional thunder showers over Al Hajar Mountains and the adjacent wilayats during the afternoon.
There were also chances of dust rising over deserts and open areas.
“There can be a stray thunderstorm along the southern coast on Thursday. Isolated showers are possible in far western Oman on Friday and Saturday, but most areas will be sunny and dry through Saturday.” Said Jason Nicholls, senior meteorologist and international forecasting manager at Accuweather.com
According to Nicholls, the isolated showers are possible in the areas toward the Yemen-Oman border.
Heavy rains and strong winds swept across the wilayat of Ibri on Wednesday afternoon.
