Oman's Mukhaini wins best goalkeeper award

Tashkent: Earlier on Tuesday, Oman defeated Kyrgyz Republic 1-0 to finish third thanks to a late goal from Arshad Al Alawi, who struck in the 71st minute. The Red Warriors also celebrated the individual honour to goalkeeper Ibrahim Saleh al Mukhaini, who was named the best goalkeeper of the tournament.

Iran forward Mehdi Taremi scored six goals in the tournament and became the top goalscorer.

The 2023 CAFA Nations Cup is the first edition of the CAFA Nations Cup, the biennial international men's football championship of Central Asia organised by Central Asian Football Association (CAFA).

Besides the six Central Asian teams, Oman were included as an invitee in the inaugural edition. The other teams that took part were Turkmenistan, Tajikistan and Afghanistan. The event was held in Kyrgyzstan and Uzbekistan from June 10 to 20.
