Muscat: The Zubair Corporation recently organised the fourth edition of its Human Resources (HR) Forum. A bi-annual event, the Forum, is an initiative of the Human Capital Centre of Excellence (HC CoE) and plays a vital role within the Corporation’s strategy to enhance human capital and provide an enriching work environment within the Corporation and its subsidiaries.
The Forum served as a platform for knowledge-sharing, discussions on new and existing policies as well as the Corporation’s competency framework. The Forum is also considered the cornerstone of promoting the strategic partnership concept among HR departments to fulfil human capital needs in an efficient manner that suits its work nature. Bringing this concept to fruition, the main topic of discussion during the Forum was the launch and introduction of the Tadweer (Training & Development with Effective, Enhanced Rotation) Programme, a job rotation initiative, led by the Human Capital Center of Excellence – The Zubair Corporation’s HR function.
The purpose of the Corporation’s Tadweer Programme is to establish a framework for a job rotation practice within the Corporation and its subsidiaries while providing employees with the opportunity to enrich their knowledge, skills with a broader understanding of the Corporation’s business operations. In 2023, the focus of the Programme will be the Finance function where selected employees will be rotated to different roles, such as financial analysis, accounting, treasury, and internal controls. The rotations will typically last for three months to a year, depending on the specific role and the individual's development needs.
Speaking on the occasion, Sharifa Al Balushi, Group Head – Human Capital Centre of Excellence said, “Creating a compelling journey from candidate to employee is just as crucial as numerous consumer-facing processes and interactions that have been retooled and simplified to provide a more satisfying customer experience. Our department has shifted its approaches as well with idea to move from a process-driven mindset to one that always begins with the experience for the HR customer, who could be a candidate, employee, contingent worker, or even alumni."
The Forum is a great platform to enhance the pivotal role that human resources functions should play in achieving the strategic and future goals of all Group companies. “To continue meeting the challenges that HR brings requires a balancing act between change, risk and innovation. Whilst conventional perceptions of HR might be limited to hiring and firing, the role is more complex now than ever before; considerations of diversity and training and development are all at the forefront of the Corporation’s HR plan. Based on this concept, the Tadeer program has been designed to benefit employees by instilling a growing a sense of motivation and loyalty as well as creating well-rounded professionals across the Corporation which will lead to strengthening our talent pool. We continue to enhance human capital through projects and programmes that fulfil our strategic objective of creating well-rounded professionals across the group, “she added.
