Muscat: The firefighting teams of the Civil Defence and Ambulance Department (CDAA) in South Al Batinah Governorate were able to put out a fire that broke out at a farm in Al Maghsar area in the Wilayat of Al Masanah, without recording any injuries.
The authority called on farmers and workers to dispose of agricultural waste in safe ways and not to accumulate it in order to avoid risks.
Wild fires can spread quickly and even the most experienced farmers can get caught up by the speed. There are simple things that you can do to prevent such incidents, such as:
1- Keep grass short; you can mow, graze or slash it back.
2- Maintain your machinery.
3- Know where you can move your animals to safety.
4- Check and maintain fire fighting equipment like pumps and hoses.
5- Make sure a fire truck can access your property; think about gates, bridges or obstructions.
