Muscat: Bollywood star Salman Khan’s latest film, Tiger 3, was released worldwide on Sunday.
But cinema-goers realised on Sunday morning that it is not playing in Oman theatres.
Amid all the hype, reports are stating the film is banned from release in Oman, Kuwait and Qatar.
According to a news portal in India, the reason for the ban is the portrayal of Islamic countries and characters in a negative light.
“I went to Vox Cinemas to buy tickets for Tiger 3 movie. I was told by the cinema it has been banned in Oman. Does anyone know the reason for this?” a moviegoer wrote on social media.
“Though the film is showing on the VOX Cinemas website - but we can't buy tickets. It is disappointing as I was waiting for this movie for a long time,” another movie buff, Santosh said.
Tiger 3 is a 2023 Indian Hindi-language action thriller film directed by Maneesh Sharma and produced by Aditya Chopra under the Yash Raj Films banner.
The film stars Salman Khan, Katrina Kaif and Emraan Hashmi.
It is a sequel to Tiger Zinda Hai (2017) and is the fifth instalment in the YRF Spy Universe. The film is set after the events of War (2019), and Pathaan (2023).
