Rough sea warning issued by Oman Meteorology

Muscat: Oman Meteorology has warned seafarers and fishermen of a rise in sea wave levels that could reach (2.0-2.5) metres coinciding with the activity of northwesterly winds for three days starting from today, Wednesday, February 28 till Friday, March 1, 2024.

Oman Meteorology said in a statement :"Sea waves will rise on the coasts of Musandam Governorate and the coasts of the Sea of Oman, starting on the evening of Wednesday, February 28, with the sea being moderate/rough waves (2.0-2.5) meters, coinciding with the activity of northwesterly winds, until Friday, March 1. Please check the sea state before venturing and practicing marine activities." 

Rainfall expected over northern governorates:

Isolated rainfall is expected over the northern governorates of the Sultanate of Oman from Wednesday, February 28, 2024 till Friday, March 1, 2024.

The latest forecasts and analyses indicate continuation of the chance of scattered rainfall , starting from this evening , over the northern governorates of the Sultanate of Oman .

 It is expected that the intensity of rainfall will increase from tomorrow morning over the Governorates of Al Buraimi , Al Dhahirah , and North Al Batinah , gradually extending during the afternoon and evening to include Muscat , South Al Batinah , Al Dakhiliyah , North Al Sharqiyah , and South Al Sharqiyah. The rainfall is expected to be of varying intensity , at times thunderous , accompanied by active downdraft winds and the possibility of hail, this may lead to the flow of wadis.

The weather conditions are expected to gradually weaken from Friday , with the continuation of scattered rainfall over North Al Sharqiyah and South Al Sharqiyah.

Civil Aviation Authority advices all to take precaution during rainfall and flash flood flow.
