Oman participates in Tashkent International Investment Forum

Tashkent: Represented by the Ministry of Commerce, Industry and Investment Promotion, the Sultanate of Oman is taking part in Tashkent International Investment Forum, held in the Republic of Uzbekistan.

Oman’s delegation to the two-day forum is headed by Qais Mohammed Al Yousef, Minister of Commerce, Industry and Investment Promotion. It includes Sayyida Wafa Jabr Al Busaidi, Ambassador of the Sultanate of Oman to the Republic of Uzbekistan, and a number of businesspeople.

Activities of the first day of the forum included panel discussions aimed at exploring aspects of global investment, economic development, investment opportunities in green energy and strategies for dealing with global economic transition. The discussions also covered corporate governance, e-commerce trends, investment projects in the field of infrastructure and the extent to which the tourism sector in Central Asia attracts foreign investors.

The President of the Republic of Uzbekistan, Dr. Shavkat Mirziyoyev, received Al Yousef on the sidelines of the forum. They reviewed trade relations between the Sultanate of Oman and Uzbekistan.

The meeting also touched on ways to expand the portfolio of the Omani-Uzbek Investment Company by attracting more investors, as well as investments in the fields of tourism, hospitality, health, education, logistics and infrastructure.

Al Yousef also conferred with Laziz Kudratov, Minister of Investment, Industry and Trade of the Republic of Uzbekistan. They discussed scopes for holding an exhibition of products made in Uzbekistan in the Sultanate of Oman, increasing the volume of trade exchange and opening direct air routes between the two friendly countries.
