Muscat: The Sultanate of Oman has been elected as a member of the Committee on the Elimination of All Forms of Discrimination against Women at the United Nations for the period 2025-2028 during the elections held on the sidelines of the twenty-third meeting of States Parties to the International Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Discrimination against Women (CEDAW) in United Nations Headquarters in New York.

The Sultanate of Oman is represented on the committee by Engineer Hamida bint Salloum Al-Shukairiya, Director of the Rural Development Department at the Ministry of Agricultural Wealth, Fisheries and Water Resources.

The Sultanate of Oman's election as a member of the Committee on the Elimination of All Forms of Discrimination against Women confirms its position at the international level, its effective role in achieving ways to empower women and provide all types of protection and care for them, and the keenness of member states to be represented on this important, relevant committee.
