Oman's forgotten ruins of Izki

Muscat: One of the oldest settlements in Oman, today in ruins, is located in Izki, a town in north-eastern Oman; situated about 50 kilometres from Nizwa in the Ad Dakhiliyah region.

New houses were constructed years ago for people living in the ruins so that they could resettle themselves, so no one lives in the ruins today. Inside the ruins, one can find worn out buildings, wadis and caves from a bygone era.

A souq, which was part of the old city, also lies completely abandoned just like the houses in the ruins. Today these old settlements lie deserted and forgotten, with many stories about their past remaining untold.
