Jabal Al Akhdar: The number of visitors to the second edition of the Rummana event in the Wilayat of Jabal Al Akhdar in the Governorate of Al Dakhiliyah since its opening on July 4 has exceeded 15,000 visitors.
The volume of sales during this period is estimated at more than 500 kilograms of fruits and other products from outlets that include 10 small and medium enterprises.
Khalid bin Hamad Al-Aghbari, Head of the Field Work Team at the Agricultural Tourism Development Company (Janaen), said that the second edition of the Rummana event is part of the agricultural tourism initiatives and projects in the Wilayat of Al Jabal Al Akhdar and aims to spread the culture of environmentally-friendly agricultural tourism, and provide new unique experiences to tourists, in addition to its contribution to enhancing the local added value.
He added that the Rummana project is the first of its kind to provide an exceptional experience for visitors through a number of activities and events through which they can enjoy a unique experience among the pomegranate trees, as the project was derived from the pomegranate fruit, for which Jabal Al Akhdar is famous.
He explained that the Rummana event contributes to enhancing the status of Jabal Al Akhdar as a leading tourist, cultural and agricultural destination in Al Dakhiliyah Governorate.
The Wilayat also abounds with a variety of natural resources that are unique from other wilayats, the employment of which will contribute to enhancing the competitiveness of the agricultural and tourism sector in the Sultanate of Oman in general and Jabal Al Akhdar Wilayat in particular. This edition will play a role in enhancing the agricultural tourism experience for visitors to Jabal Al Akhdar in addition to supporting farmers to market their products.
He explained that the project includes a number of events and activities in addition to a variety of restaurants and cafes. The project also organises many workshops and cultural events directed at children and families to instill the concept of tourism agriculture in them. The event also includes many children's games and specialised corners to sell the products of productive families.
