RAO conducts practical demo of Oman-Iran military exercise “Mountain Falcons”

Al Jabal Al Akhdar: Represented by the Sultan of Oman's Parachute Regiment, the Royal Army of Oman (RAO) today carried out a practical demonstration drill of the Joint Omani-Iranian Military Exercise codenamed “Mountain Falcons”.

With support from the Royal Air Force of Oman (RAFO), the drill was conducted under the auspices of Maj. Gen MattarSalim Al Balushi,Commander of the Royal Army of Oman, in the presence of Brigadier-General Kiumars Heidari, Commander of the Islamic Republic of Iran's Army Ground Forces.

The drill took place in RAO combat training zone in areas mountainous of the Wilayat of Al Jabal Al Akhdar. It began with a briefing, followed by the practical demonstration during which the participating forces demonstrated a high level of performance.

The stages of the demo reflected the participating units’ ability to operate in full harmony and implement the drawn-up plans and training objectives.

Military exercises form part of SAF annual training plans and programmes, which are often carried out jointly with armies of Arab and friendly countries.

The practical demonstration drill was attended by senior officers of the Sultan's Armed Forces, senior officers of the Iranian Ground Forces, the Military Attaché at the Embassy of the Islamic Republic of Iran in Muscat and RAO personnel.
