Muscat: The Sultanate of Oman’s total domestic production and import of natural gas reached 42.222 billion cubic metres by the end of September 2024, marking a 4% increase from the same period last year, which saw a total of 40.589 billion cubic metres.
According to figures released by the National Center for Statistics and Information, industrial projects accounted for 61.4% of Oman’s natural gas usage up to the end of September, with industrial consumption reaching 25.923 billion cubic metres.
Other uses of natural gas in Oman included oil fields, which consumed 8.88 billion cubic metres, power generation stations with 7.231 billion cubic metres, and industrial zones at 187.8 million cubic metres.
The data further revealed that non-associated natural gas production, including imports, totalled 33.626 billion cubic metres, while associated gas production amounted to 8.596 billion cubic metres as of September 2024.
