Muscat: The Embassy of India in Muscat celebrated the 76th Republic Day of India with patriotic fervour and enthusiasm. The event was attended by more than 500 members of the Indian community and friends of India in Oman.H.E. Amit Narang, Ambassador of India to the Sultanate of Oman, accompanied by his spouse, MrsDivya Narang, began the celebrations by laying a floral tribute at the statue of Mahatma Gandhi, honouring his legacy of peace and non-violence.
The National Flag was unfurled by the Ambassador, followed by the singing of the National Anthem by students from the Indian School Al Ghubra. The Ambassador also read excerpts from the Hon’ble President of India’s Republic Day address, highlighting India’s progress, democratic values, and aspirations for the future.
Patriotic songs performed by the studentsfrom the Indian SchoolAlGhubra further enhanced the festive atmosphere. Beautiful tricolour sashes were distributed to all attendees, who wore them with pride as a symbol of their love for India.
The event also included the felicitation of the winners of the Bharat Ko Janiye Quiz from Oman, a Government of India initiative designed to connect diaspora youth with India’s rich culture, history, and achievements. The quiz received enthusiastic participation from the Indian community in Oman.
As part of the Republic Day celebrations, the Embassy will host a grand reception on the evening of January 27, 2025.
