Muscat: The Ministry of Transport, Communications, and Information Technology (MTCIT) has signed an agreement at Alila Resort in the Wilayat of Mirbat for the dualisation project of the Raysut-Mughsail road with Oman Construction Company in Salalah, at a total cost of OMR 35 million.
Additionally, the Ministry signed an agreement with Future Innovation Company to create an electronic platform based on artificial intelligence in the field of employment.
The agreements were signed by His Excellency Eng. Khamis bin Mohammed Al Shamakhy, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Transport, Communications, and Information Technology for Transport. Signing on behalf of Oman Construction Company was Saeed bin Muslim Masn Al Kathiri, Chairman of the Board of Directors, and Dr. Mashail bint Awad Al Saiyariyah, CEO of Future Innovation Company, signed on behalf of her company. The signing ceremony was attended by His Highness Sayyid Marwan bin Turki Al Said, Governor of Dhofar, and His Excellency Eng. Said bin Hamoud Al Maawali, Minister of Transport, Communications, and Information Technology.
The dualisation project for the Raysut-Mughsail road involves constructing a dual carriageway of 33 kilometers with two lanes in each direction. The project includes 6 overpasses and underpasses, animal crossings, and roundabouts, connecting the Raysut area with Mughsail. The project also includes linking November 18 Road with the dual carriageway for a length of 5.5 kilometers, connecting Salalah center with the western region of Dhofar Governorate, and linking the road to the Sarfayt border crossing with the neighbouring Republic of Yemen.
His Highness Sayyid Marwan bin Turki Al Said, Governor of Dhofar, emphasized the project's importance in enhancing logistical, economic, and social dimensions in Dhofar Governorate. The road passes through Salalah Port and the Free Zone, thereby boosting the economic role of the port and free zone, and the associated logistical services. The road is expected to stimulate commercial, economic, and investment activities in the region. Additionally, it passes through several tourist sites in the governorate, such as the Iftilqoot area and Mughsail Beach, extending to the Wilayats of Rakhyut and Dhalkut. This will enhance and stimulate tourism in the governorate, making these tourist areas easily accessible and enabling the development of new tourist zones.
His Excellency Eng. Khamis bin Mohammed Al Shamakhy, Undersecretary for Transport, highlighted the project's importance in completing the Ministry's strategic plan to improve the main roads in the governorate by developing the road into two lanes and constructing several overpasses and underpasses, contributing to increased traffic flow. The road will be equipped with all traffic safety requirements following the specifications of the Omani Road Design Manual, ensuring high quality and efficiency suitable for various weather conditions.
He also noted that the Raysut-Mughsail road project will integrate with the Mughsail Road and Bridge project, for which the Ministry signed an agreement last year. This project extends for two kilometers and includes a concrete bridge 630 meters long, supported by 20 columns and two side abutments, featuring six decorative arches. It also includes the construction of parking spaces on both sides of the road and a smooth pedestrian pathway with lighting, along with an underpass for easy access to other tourist sites. Upon completion of these projects, there will be a qualitative shift in the road system in the governorate.
The agreement with Future Innovation Company includes the establishment of an integrated smart employment platform that relies on advanced generative AI technologies to analyze and evaluate candidates, contributing to improving the quality of hiring decisions, reducing the time taken to screen applications, and enhancing transparency in selecting talents.
