OmanSat to establish and operate satellite system in Oman :TRA

Muscat: The Telecommunications Regulatory Authority (TRA) has announced that the issuance of Royal Decree No. (40/2025), which grants a first-class licence to OmanSat Technologies Company for the establishment and operation of a satellite communications system, will be instrumental in advancing the telecommunications infrastructure within Oman.

The TRA stated that this decree is expected to enhance market competitiveness, as OmanSat, the newly licensed company, will be responsible for developing and operating satellite communication systems to provide fixed public telecommunications services throughout the Sultanate.

The authority further explained that the licence is intended to facilitate the delivery of broadband internet services, offer satellite connectivity for communication stations, and provide a wider range of options for users, particularly in rural areas. This initiative is in line with the TRA's ongoing efforts to encourage investment in innovative technologies and services, ensure the availability of accessible and secure infrastructure, and cultivate a flexible regulatory environment that adapts to technological advancements.
