The University of Technology and Applied Sciences in Al-Mussanah, represented by its university library, is organizing a forum titled "Libraries and Information Institutions in the Digital Revolution Era: Revolution of the Present and Future" on Monday, April 21, 2025. The forum discusses the growing influence of digital transformation on the information and knowledge sectors. The event will bring together a group of distinguished specialists and professionals in the field of libraries and information from various public and private entities.
The forum aligns with the university’s efforts to keep pace with rapid digital transformations and to foster collaboration and knowledge exchange among information institutions. Dr. Nasser Salem Al Baimani, UTAS-A Assistant Vice-Chancellor, affirmed the university’s commitment to supporting digital transformation as a key pillar of its future strategy. He emphasised the importance of artificial intelligence in enhancing library services and improving user experience through smart systems that ensure accurate and quick access to information.
Ms. Halima Suleiman Al-Balushi, Head of the University Library, stated that the forum offers a dynamic platform for academic dialogue and interaction among experts and professionals. It aims to explore the future of libraries and information institutions in the digital age and contribute to shaping innovative visions for the development of this vital sector, in line with national goals toward building a knowledge-based digital society.
The forum will include several scientific papers discussing various themes related to the evolving role of information institutions in the digital era, the use of AI in information services, the presentation of successful local experiences, and ethical and security considerations in modern digital practices. A specialised exhibition will also be held to showcase the latest technologies and digital initiatives in the library and information sector.
