Ahmedabad/Delhi/Mumbai, India: Air India is operating two special relief flights from Delhi and Mumbai to Ahmedabad to assist the next of kin of passengers and Air India staff following an incident involving flight AI171.
The airline announced the following flight details in a statement:
IX1555 – Delhi to Ahmedabad
Departure: 2300 hrs on 12 June
IX1556 – Ahmedabad to Delhi
Departure: 0110 hrs on 13 June
AI1402 – Mumbai to Ahmedabad
Departure: 2300 hrs on 12 June
AI1409 – Ahmedabad to Mumbai
Departure: 0115 hrs on 13 June
Relatives in Delhi and Mumbai who wish to travel on these flights are advised to contact the dedicated hotline at 1800 5691 444. Those travelling from international locations may call +91 8062779200 for assistance.
Air India has also requested that media personnel avoid calling the passenger hotline, which is intended exclusively for the families of those affected.
Flight AI171, operating from Ahmedabad to London Gatwick, was involved in an accident shortly after take-off today. The Boeing 787-8 aircraft, which departed at 1338 hrs, was carrying 242 passengers and crew. Of these, 169 are Indian nationals, 53 British nationals, one Canadian national, and seven Portuguese nationals. The injured are being transported to the nearest hospitals.
Air India stated it is fully cooperating with the authorities investigating the incident and will continue to provide updates through its official X handle (x.com/airindia) and website www.airindia.com.
