Muscat: The Omani-Bahraini Friendship Association (OBFA) held a regular meeting at the Diplomatic Club in Muscat on Monday.
The meeting, attended by representatives from the Sultanate of Oman and the Kingdom of Bahrain, discussed key issues related to means of consolidating bilateral relations and developing cooperation programmes.
The meeting saw the election of OBFA board members for the period from 2025 to 2028. During the elections, Rudaina Amer Al Hajri was re-elected as Head of the Board of Directors for a second consecutive term. Sheikha Jawahir Al Khalifa was elected as Deputy Head of Board of Directors, while Dr. Ahmed Said Al Jahwari was elected as Secretary-General and Ahmed Mohammed Al Ardi as Treasurer.
The meeting also included the restructuring of the Association’s standing committees as follows:
The Economic Committee (headed by Abdullah Saleh Al Shanfari); the Membership and Affiliation Committee (headed by Manar Malallah Al Balushi); the Communication and Media Committee (headed by Maryam Ghalib Al Alawi); the Programmes and Events Committee (headed by Shihab Ahmed Al Mujaini); and the Sports Committee (headed by Ismail Al Ajmi).
Rudaina said in a speech that the OBFA would press ahead with efforts to enhance Oman-Bahrain cooperation in the fields of tourism, culture and economy. She added that the next stage would introduce initiatives and programmes aimed at boosting communication between the peoples of Bahrain and Oman and highlighting their shared values.
