Ibra: The Directorate General of Agriculture, Fisheries and Water Resources in North Al Sharqiyah Governorate opened the gates of Wadi Qafifah Dam in the Wilayat of Ibra for partial drainage of water.
A large amount of water had accumulated in the dam due to the heavy discharge of wadis in the wilayats of Ibra and Dima Wal Taein, Ibra registered 16 mm of rains while Wilayat of Dima Wal Taein got 5 mm of rainfall.
The drainage of the water from the dam, which has a storage capacity of over 926, 000 cubic metre, was aimed to prepare the dam from the flow of wadis during the upcoming days.
The wilayats of North Al Sharqiyah Governorate are currently receiving rains leading to the overflow of the wadis , in Wadi Qafifah and Wadi Al Jarwala and others.
It is worth mentioning that the Wadi Qafifah Dam, which was opened in 2023, is under the supervision of the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Water Resources. The length of the dam is 122 metres and the height is 24. 3 metres.
The dam has two vents for drainage with diameter of 630 mm and drainage capacity of 3.55 cubic metres per second.---ONA -----ONA
