Cairo: The Sultanate of Oman participated in the 56th session of the Arab Permanent Committee on Human Rights, held in Cairo, Egypt.
Oman's delegation was represented by Saud Saleh Al Maawali, Deputy Head of the Oman Human Rights Commission (OHRC).
The session, held at the Arab League headquarters in Cairo, discussed agenda items focused on adopting the recommendations of the 55th session. Key topics included confronting Israeli violations and racist practices in the occupied Arab territories, the issue of Arab prisoners and detainees in Israeli jails, and other matters related to Israeli violations.
The session also reviewed the work strategy of the Arab Charter on Human Rights Committee and approved the theme for the upcoming Arab Human Rights Day in 2026, which falls on March 16th each year.
