Social development ministry sets academic calendar for persons with disabilities centres

Muscat: The Ministry of Social Development has issued a ministerial decision outlining the start and end dates for rehabilitation programs, assessment periods, and holidays for the 2025/2026 academic year.

This applies to all government and private rehabilitation centers for persons with disabilities, as well as those affiliated with civil associations.

The decision aims to provide a comprehensive and integrated rehabilitative environment that ensures continuity and stability of services, supporting the empowerment of persons with disabilities.

The decision specifies that the 2025/2026 academic year for government rehabilitation centers – including the National Autism Center, Vocational Rehabilitation Center, Early Intervention Center, Cerebral Palsy and Physical Disabilities Center, Down Syndrome Center, Al Wafa Centers for Rehabilitation of Persons with Disabilities, and rehabilitation units – will begin on Sunday, 24 August 2025, and end on Thursday, 2 July 2026.

For supervisors, rehabilitation staff, administrators, and workers in these government centers, the first semester will start from Sunday, 24 August 2025, to Thursday,8 January 2026. The second semester will commence on Sunday, 25 January 2026, and conclude on Thursday, 2 July 2026.

For private rehabilitation centers for persons with disabilities and rehabilitation centers affiliated with civil associations, the academic year will begin on Sunday, 31 August 2025, and end on Thursday, 25 June 2026.

For enrolled individuals in all government rehabilitation centers, private rehabilitation centers for persons with disabilities, and centers affiliated with civil associations, the first semester of the 2025/2026 academic year will start on Sunday, 31 August 2025, and end on Thursday, 8 January 2026. The second semester will begin on Sunday, 25 January 2026, and conclude on Thursday, 25 June 2026.

The decision also includes "dates for transfer and enrollment procedures for persons with disabilities in private rehabilitation centers." The procedures for transferring persons with disabilities enrolled in private rehabilitation centers from one center to another for the 2025/2026 academic year will begin on Monday, 1 September 2025, and end on Thursday, 16 October 2025. Furthermore, the assessment of individuals wishing to enroll in government centers and rehabilitation units will take place from Monday, 6 January 2026, to Thursday, 7 February 2026.

The decision outlines holiday dates as well. The first semester break for supervisors, rehabilitation staff, administrators, and workers in all government, private, and civil association-affiliated rehabilitation centers for the 2025/2026 academic year will begin on Sunday, 11 January 2026, and end on Thursday, 22 January 2026. The end-of-year holiday for enrolled individuals in all these centers for the 2025/2026 academic year will begin on Sunday, 28 June 2026, and end on Thursday, 27 August 2026.

The end-of-year holiday for supervisors, rehabilitation staff, administrators, and workers in government rehabilitation centers for the 2025/2026 academic year will begin on Sunday, 5 July 2026, and end on Thursday, 20 August 2026. Private rehabilitation centers for persons with disabilities and rehabilitation centers affiliated with civil associations may implement a summer program for their enrolled cases during the end-of-year holiday. This program will include rehabilitation and other programs upon written request, provided it takes place between Sunday, 28 June 2026, and Thursday, 27 August 2026.

The decision also stipulated the dates for the "First Family Guidance and Counseling Program" for the 2025/2026 academic year, targeting parents of enrolled individuals in all government, private, and civil association-affiliated rehabilitation centers, from Sunday, 4 January 2026, to Thursday, 8 January 2026. The "Second Family Guidance and Counseling Program" will run from Sunday, 21 June 2026, to Thursday, 25 June 2026.
