Muscat: The MSX index closed at 4,749.15 points, up by 0.04% from previous close. The Sharia Index ended down by 0.14% at 462.36 points. Sembcorp Salalah, up 4.93%, was the top gainer while Financial Corporation, down 8.89%, was the top loser. Shares of Sohar International Bank were the most active in terms of number of shares traded as well as in terms of turnover.
A total number of 1995 trades were executed during the day’s trading session, generating turnover of OMR20.52 million, with more than 128.09 million shares changing hands. Out of 64 traded securities, 14 advanced, 25 declined, and 25 remained unchanged. At the session close, domestic investors were net buyers for OMR456,000 while GCC & Arab investors were net sellers for OMR280,000, followed by foreign investors for OMR175,000 worth of shares.
Financial Index closed at 8,115.24 points, down 0.08%. Prices of Oman & Emirates Investment, Bank Muscat, Taageer Finance, OMINVEST were up by 1.45%, 1.03%, 0.87%, 0.44% respectively. Prices of Financial Corporation, Takaful Oman, Al Madina Investments, Muscat Finance, Al Sharqia Investment were down by 8.89%, 3.85%, 2.22%, 1.79%, 1.21% respectively.
Industrial Index closed at 6,900.82 points, up 0.17%. Prices of Voltamp Energy, Oman Cement were up by 1.24%, 0.82% respectively. Prices of Gulf Mushroom Products, National Detergent, Al Fajar Al Alamia were down by 2.54%, 1.37%, 1.01% respectively.
Services Index was up by 0.18% before closing at 1,783.89 points. Prices of Sembcorp Salalah, Al Batinah Power, Ooredoo, Al Suwadi Power, Oman Oil Marketing were up by 4.93%, 2.30%, 1.70%, 1.14%, 0.68% respectively. Prices of Musandam Power, Dhofar Generating, Sharqiyah Desalination, National Gas, Phoenix Power were down by 5.00%, 3.75%, 2.90%, 2.41%, 2.27% respectively.
