Citizens and residents targeted by online fraud; ROP advises caution

Muscat: The Royal Oman Police (ROP) has issued a warning to citizens and residents in the Sultanate of Oman regarding a fake website claiming to receive and process complaints and reports.

The Directorate General of Inquiries and Criminal Investigations has warned against received several reports from citizens and residents stating that they fell victim to fraud through a fake website claiming to receive and process complaints and reports.

ROP stresses the importance of verifying the authenticity of official websites. The National Platform for Suggestions, Complaints, and Reports (Tajawob) does not request personal or banking information, nor does it require any payments or fees under any circumstances. Any communication requesting such information is deemed a fraudulent attempt. Communication from the platform's specialized teams is limited solely to completing information related to the submitted request.
