Tashkent: The Oman national football team began their campaign at the 2025 Central Asian Football Association (CAFA) Nations Cup with a 1-1 draw against hosts Uzbekistan in their opening match held on Saturday at the Olympic Stadium in Tashkent.
Placed in Group A alongside Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan and Turkmenistan, the Red Warriors showed resilience in their first outing of the tournament.
The CAFA Nations Cup serves as an important preparatory event for Oman ahead of their decisive fixtures in the AFC Asian Qualifiers – Road to 2026. The team will face Qatar on October 8 and the United Arab Emirates on October 11 in Doha, crucial matches that will determine their path to the FIFA World Cup 2026.
