Muscat: The Oman Trade Office in the United States, affiliated with the Oman Chamber of Commerce and Industry (OCCI), hosted a webinar in cooperation with the Embassy of the Sultanate of Oman in Washington, DC, and the US Embassy in Oman. The webinar aimed to introduce the office’s programs offered to Omani companies seeking to enter or expand in the US market.
The session was attended by H.E. Sheikh Faisal bin Abdullah Al Rawas, Chairman of the OCCI, H.E. Ibtisam bint Ahmed Al Farooji, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Commerce, Industry and Investment Promotion for Investment Promotion, H.E. Ana Escrogima, US Ambassador to Oman, and Sabra Ahmed Al Hooti, Deputy Chief of Oman’s Mission in Washington, DC.
The webinar highlighted the mechanisms for entering the US market and the services provided by the office in this regard. It emphasised the office’s role in supporting Omani exports, enhancing the import of high-quality US goods, attracting US investments to Oman, enabling Omani companies to expand in US markets, and strengthening trade partnerships.
H.E. Al Rawas said that the establishment of the Oman Trade Office in the United States represents a strategic step in strengthening economic and trade relations between Oman and the US. The office serves as an official gateway to support and enhance trade and investment between the two friendly countries. He noted that the steady growth of economic cooperation, trade and investment exchange between the two sides clearly reflects the depth and historical nature of Oman-US relations. Oman was among the first countries in the region to build bridges of cooperation and friendship with the US, with the ship Sultana being the first Arab vessel to dock at New York Port in 1840.
He also pointed to the pivotal role of the Oman Trade Office in supporting Omani companies to enter and expand in the US market. The office offers a range of high-quality services, including providing top-level guidance on doing business in the US, helping companies identify available opportunities in the American market, connecting them with potential partners, and offering strategic insights, especially under the Free Trade Agreement (FTA) between the two countries.
H.E. Al Farooji said that the Oman Trade Office in the US is a prominent initiative launched this year through joint efforts from the public and private sectors to provide a direct and practical support channel for Omani traders, exporters and globally ambitious companies. She added that the office was designed to be a platform that strengthens the presence of Omani companies in the US market while attracting high-quality American investments into Oman.
H.E. Escrogima stated that the presence of the Oman Trade Office in the US is an important step towards enhancing the economic partnership between the two countries. The office, she said, will help expand prospects for trade and investment cooperation and allow American investors to closely explore promising opportunities in the Omani economy.
Meanwhile, Al Hooti affirmed that the Oman Trade Office in the US is one of Oman’s initiatives that embodies the approach of economic diplomacy. It provides an important gateway to strengthen economic and investment relations between the two friendly countries and serves as a practical platform to support Omani companies in entering the US market while showcasing the promising opportunities in Oman’s economy.
