Dubai: The Sultanate of Oman was awarded the Regional Champions Award by the Universal Postal Union (UPU) after achieving a significant leap in the 2025 Integrated Index for Postal Development (2IPD). For the first time, Oman joins the category of countries with the world's most developed postal services, ranked at the eighth level globally and first in the Arab region by the UPU.
The award was presented during the 28th UPU Congress, hosted in Dubai, the United Arab Emirates, from 8-19 September 2025.
This progress is an international recognition of Oman's readiness in digital transformation and its growing leadership in logistics and e-commerce. The 2IPD measures a country's performance across four main pillars: reliability, access, relevance, and resilience, based on big data, official statistics, and extensive surveys.
This methodology gives the index solid international credibility, making it a reliable reference for postal planning and policy-making. The award reflects Oman's leading position in the region and its ability to turn operational and digital improvements into tangible achievements.
This accomplishment is the result of integrated efforts by the Ministry of Transport, Communications, and Information Technology, which has formulated policies and implemented ambitious national programs in line with the goals of Oman Vision 2040.
It also highlights the effective regulatory role of the Telecommunications Regulatory Authority (TRA) in fostering a fair and sustainable competitive environment and the operational role of Oman Post (the national operator) in developing services and expanding its network to meet the requirements of digital transformation and logistical trends.
This achievement solidifies Oman's growing position in the postal sector on both regional and global levels, affirming the success of national policies and strategies in enhancing the efficiency of postal and logistical services, strengthening the digital infrastructure, supporting the national economy, and contributing to the growth of e-commerce.
