Asian national arrested for attempted drug smuggling at Muscat Airport

MUSCAT: The Directorate General for Combating Drugs and Psychotropic Substances, in cooperation with the Directorate of Customs at Muscat International Airport, has arrested an Asian national for attempting to smuggle drugs into the country.

The suspect was apprehended upon arrival at the airport after authorities discovered nine kilograms of marijuana carefully concealed in his travel bags. Investigations revealed that the drugs were intended for illegal trade within the Sultanate.

Officials confirmed that legal procedures are currently underway against the accused. The authorities reiterated their commitment to combating drug trafficking and safeguarding the country’s security.
