Wellness Tourism Forum showcases Oman's experiences

Muscat: The Ministry of Heritage and Tourism on Monday organised an event titled "Wellness Tourism Forum" to mark World Tourism Day, which falls on 27 September every year.

World Tourism Day 2025 takes the theme "Tourism and Sustainable Transformation."

The forum was aimed to highlight Oman’s promising potential in the field of tourism and enhance its position as a regional and global destination offering unique wellness and recreational experiences that combine the preservation of nature and wellness.

The forum was held under the auspices of Dr.Ahmed Salem Al Mandhari, the Ministry of Health's Undersecretary for Health Planning and Regulation.

The forum elaborated on means of developing wellness tourism by enhancing the role of spas and health hotels in supporting physical and mental health, encouraging integration among health clubs and companies offering travel and tourism services, encouraging the participation of small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in providing local products for health facilities, providing tourism packages tailored to those seeking recreation and wellness experiences and motivating the hospitality sector to develop the infrastructure and services for this type of tourism.

The forum saw the participation of governmental establishments, academic institutions and private firms. The participants included the Ministry of Health, Sultan Qaboos University, the German University and Oman Tourism College, in addition to representatives of 4 and 5-star hotels and resorts.

The agenda included visual presentations featuring successful international experiences in wellness tourism, like the hot springs experience in Eastern Europe and the experience of Bali in Indonesia, as well as wellness camping in the Sultanate of Oman (the village of Sujarah in the Wilayat of Jabal Akhdar as a model of mountain life practices).

A number of resorts and hotel establishments showcased their experiences in providing wellness tourism, offering a variety of services, packages and well-prepared facilities and resources.

On the sidelines of the forum, an exhibition of therapeutic initiatives and experiences in the Sultanate of Oman was held.
