Interior Minister, Iranian counterpart discuss ties

Tehran: Sayyid Hamoud Faisal Al Busaidi, Minister of Interior met in Tehran on Tuesday with Eskandar Momeni, Minister of Interior of the Islamic Republic of Iran.

The meeting took place within the context of Oman’s participation as a guest of honour in the fourth meeting of Interior Ministers of the Economic Cooperation Organization (ECO) member states, held earlier yesterday.

During the meeting, the two ministers discussed ways to enhance the existing cooperation between Oman and Iran in areas of mutual interest.

 They also reviewed a set of regional topics related to the work of the Economic Cooperation Organization, particularly in the security fields.

Both sides emphasised the importance of developing channels of cooperation and communication between the relevant departments in the two countries and exchanging expertise.

This aims to enhance joint efforts in addressing regional challenges and contribute to supporting security, stability, and sustainable development. 

The meeting was attended by Maj.Gen. Abdullah Ali Al-Harthy, Assistant Inspector General of Police and Customs for Operations and Sheikh Ahmed Hashil Al Maskari, Head of the Gulf Cooperation Council and Regional Neighbourhood Department at the Foreign Ministry.
