
Muscat: Dr. Saleh bin Said Masan, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Commerce, Industry and Investment Promotion for Commerce and Industry, received in Muscat on Sunday Mohammad-Ali Dehghan Dehnavi, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Industry, Mine and Trade of the Islamic Republic of Iran, and his accompanying delegation. The meeting took place within the context of joint efforts to boost economic relations and develop bilateral cooperation in commercial, industrial and investment fields.
Dr. Saleh bin Said Masan affirmed the Sultanate of Oman’s keenness to expand economic partnerships with the Islamic Republic of Iran in a manner that contributes to supporting promising sectors and augmenting bilateral trade and investment exchange between the two countries.
The officials reviewed the topics to be presented for discussion at the forthcoming meeting of the Omani-Iranian Joint Committee scheduled to be held on 26 and 27 January 2026. They also looked into the tasks entrusted to the Joint Technical Committee and mechanisms for following up the panel's recommendations.
The two sides discussed measures to finalise procedures for the concluding a preferential trade agreement between the Sultanate of Oman and the Islamic Republic of Iran. They also reviewed opportunities for investment in the sector of industry and trade, notably in converting industries, mining and modern technologies.
They stressed the need to consolidate communication between the public and private sectors, boost efforts to support joint projects and enhance the flow of investments in a way that serves the two countries’ economic interests.
The visiting Iranian delegation will tour a number of economic facilities and industrial zones in the Sultanate of Oman.
