Al Buraimi: A two-day symposium titled “Using Available Water Resources in Al Buraimi and Al Dhahirah Governorates to Enhance the Sustainability of Projects” kicked off in Al Buraimi Governorate on Monday.
The symposium constitutes part of efforts to explore means of enhancing the sustainability of water resources in the Sultanate of Oman with the aim of supporting projects in the fields of farming, food security and industry.
The symposium is organized by Oman Water Society in cooperation with the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Water Resources and the Office of the Governor of Al Buraimi. It seeks to assess scopes for agricultural investment and related industries in the two governorates. It also studies current water challenges and explores ways to achieve the sustainability of vital projects.
The symposium is being attended by representatives of the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Water Resources, the Environment Authority, Oman Investment Authority, Oman Water and Wastewater Services Company, Sultan Qaboos University and private universities and colleges. The participants also include researchers and specialists in related fields.
